CALBALLOY (Ba-Si series)
Overview
CALBALLOY is a high-quality inoculant made of high-quality raw materials,containing certain amount of Ba, Ca, and Al; Used for gray cast iron, nodular cast iron, or vermicular cast iron.
Characteristics
It has a good and long effect in preventing chill.
Molten iron with a very low gas content can be obtained.
It is easier to dissolve than conventional inoculants do, and produces less slags and porosities.
When used in ductile iron, it has a significant effect on promoting nodularization and ferritiszation of ductile iron.
Usage
The method of addition is the same as that of Si-based inoculants. It is more effective to add it when pouring molten iron into the ladle.
When casting, products of fine grain sizes are used; and for in-mold use, granular products are preferred, to achieve a good effect.
The standard dosage is 0.2-0.4% of molten iron.
